Autumn was her favorite season. She'd always had a fondness for it, loved the crispness of the air and the colors of the leaves. When she was out on her own she wasn't quite as fond of the season, since the crispness of the air often meant coldness of the body when sleeping outdoors. Though in that regard it still ranked well above winter. For the first time in a long time she felt like she had the opportunity to enjoy the season fully. She was dressed in the jacket Beth and Aric had bought for her. She thought she could have gotten away with a sweatshirt, but she hadn't had a jacket that fit and wasn't already worn or holey in what seemed like forever and she wanted to appreciate it fully.
She was starting to feel at home with Aric and Beth. She'd passed her interview with Will and hadn't been tossed out on her ear. She'd met Elaine and Tawnie and had managed without disaster. She knew by now everyone probably knew about her, and it was starting to feel ridiculous to keep to herself. She was pretty sure Beth and Aric were spending much more time at home in an effort to let her get comfortable than they would usually have. So today she decided it was time to make an effort of her own. It was weird to open up to others, she'd spent so long trying not to be seen that it took an active effort to allow herself to become vulnerable. But Aric and Beth were trying to give her a new life here, she owed it to them - and to herself - to try to make it work.
Her first step she decided was to stop hiding in the apartment while they were in the office, and instead today she decided to come down for lunch. Which is how she came to be sitting in the courtyard munching on a sandwich enjoying the weather.
