WHO: Visitors to the X Mansion... WHEN: July 17th, mid-morning WHERE: The grounds of the X Mansion WHAT: Trouble comes in a familiar form
The man standing at the tree line was a familiar sight, dressed in purple and red, even though his face was partly obscured by a strange, curved helmet. He stood in silence, flanked on either side by two of his best, observing the huge expanse of land before him. Charles's little playground.
"I'm sick of waiting, Magneto," the monstrous beast of a man to his left growled, clawed hands twisting into the dirt where he crouched. He growled, hyper-sensitive nostrils catching familiar scents.
"I've got a couple of old friends in there, looks like..."
Magneto raised a hand, fingers curling slightly. "Patience, Sabertooth. This is a test, simply a distraction. I want you to go after only those who can recover from the wounds you inflict."
Sabertooth laughed, growling and picking at an oversized incisor with a wickedly curved claw.
"That's what I had in mind."
The woman to Magneto's left remained quiet for the moment, lowering her eyelids and regarding the Mansion before them. More than once in her past, she'd considered leaving her chosen side for the opposition. But now...no. There was enough of her underneath the wing of Charles Xavier. She could feel them inside the walls.
"Why not meet with him in the usual way?" she asked quietly, turning her face slightly. "I know you want to talk to Xavier...you have the means to do that without attacking the school..."
"Mystique," he replied, lowering his hand and allowing himself a half-smile. "Maternal concern is simply not you, my dear. This is a test for Charles, and his children. Plus, I need to talk to him face to face. My methods will not be questioned again..."
He paused shortly, before walking from the tree border towards the edge of the property. He lifted his arms, the smile on his lips growing to greater potential.
"Sabertooth, you will find that infernal Danger Room and neutralize any X-Men you find. Mystique...the library. When I give the word to withdraw, it will be done."
"Now go. And let's see how seriously Charles has taken my warning to train his babes."
