Remus stood there, so thankful that Sirius was away from the door as they stared at one another, his jaw locking a bit as he slowly swallowed. "Sirius... I'm not going to turn my back anymore. I know that I made a mistake, that I should have listened to you. Please, believe me when I say that I won't make that mistake again. I'll find a way to keep you safe," he said softly, the wet in the other's eyes making him stand closer to him, taking a white handkerchief from his small box of them and handing one over as he let it hand limply in the air between them. "Please stay," he repeated, wanting nothing more than to hold him. "Please stay, even if it's just to tell me I'm an idiot for days at end," he offered, taking another half step closer to him. "I got scared. I got scared that I wasn't going to have a future. That you'd be footing the bill for my life. That I'd never have another shot, and I got greedy. And I got scared of you, which I never should have allowed".
