While Kastra was not necessary having an awful summer, it certainly wasn't a pleasant one. Her father had asked her to stay in role for a while longer, and Kastra couldn't blame him. There had been an attempt on his life, which meant that her involvement in the Resistance was crucial at this time. If she just so happened to hear anything that might be even remotely related to the attempt - or future attempts - then she would be of great use to her father. It made sense. But as she was still playing rebel, Kastra had been kept out of most NAA functions and had therefore spent the summer months feeling bored and restless. She had made no progress when it came to getting close to Aberforth, either, which was frustrating and did very little to alleviate her feelings of uselessness.
Therefore, though it made sense for Kastra to stay in role, she was not enjoying it. Far from it. She was growing weary of playing nice with the enemy, of creating and maintaining tension within her household. Not even the thought of school could give Kastra a reprieve, as she wasn't keen on spending her last year of schooling at Hogwarts rather than Durmstrang. Though even if she were returning to Durmstrang, it wouldn't be to much; Kastra hadn't kept in touch with her fellow Durmstrang students. Being a rebel meant that any future NAA members viewed her as taboo. As well they should.
If Kastra were honest with herself, she'd have to admit that she was a little lonely. Though normally a loner even when not playing the part of a rebel, Kastra was lacking her normal support structure - her fathers. Private meetings with her father Gellert were few and far between, and usually mostly dealt with Kastra's findings. And her papa...he believed in her ruse, and things had not been the same between them since he had prevented Kastra from visiting her father after the assassination attempt.
Summer made Kastra realize just how much of a mess being a spy had made her life. But as always, she reminded herself of how necessary and important it was, and how this was all for the benefit of the NAA.
Her one solace came in the form of something resembling a friendship, that she had forged with Regulus Black. They had kept in touch over the summer and Kastra had come to establish a sort of fondness for the blissfully uncomplicated quality of their relationship. They rarely discussed politics and her allegiance, and if Kastra did express any hints of discontent toward her situation, Regulus was supportive without asking too many questions. Kastra, too, took care to avoid any sensitive subjects. She never brought up the Resistance or his fugitive brother, preferring to leave their relationship as uncomplicated as possible. Of course, Kastra didn't trust Regulus; that would be stupid and reprehensible, and she would not break role even with him. But she did feel that between them, they could trust each other not to be trusted, and that was important.
Which is why, when Saturday evening finally rolled around, Kastra couldn't help but feel in better spirits than she had all summer. Regulus would be visiting Berlin, and they had arranged a date at one of the best restaurants in the city. Kastra found herself surprisingly excited about seeing Regulus, and took care to dress and put up her hair for the occasion. She wasn't normally one to put effort into her appearance, but given her situation, she rarely had the opportunity to do so and therefore found herself glad for the opportunity.
Upon leaving home, she didn't bother to leave notice with either of her fathers. She was sure they'd be alerted of her departure - as if she could do anything in their household without them knowing - but she didn't want anything to put a damper on her evening. She'd handle any questions or reprimands later, when it was over. For now, she merely apparated to the street of destination - taking pleasure in her ability to do so - and made her way to the restaurant, looking for Regulus.
