Rating: TBA, low to moderate, perhaps?
Status: Incomplete
Gellert had been out of the hospital for a week. Those days had been spent ensuring that everything that had occurred during his absence was reviewed and, if necessary, appropriately handled, as well as taking care of the requisite meetings with the press to put the right spin on his illness and recovery. And he'd had to look over and approve the paperwork for the installation of his new secretary in a few weeks. Albus had recommended her, which usually spoke well for a secretary's quality - not that any of them had ever been quite good enough to last longer than a few years. But all of that was handled now, and Gellert could at last turn his attention to the somewhat pressing matter that he had until now been (rather mercifully, he thought) ignoring. The issue of Cassandra. Cassandra, and the fact that she had somehow either neglected to inform Gellert that someone would be attempting to kill him—or had not forseen the assassination attempt at all.
Gellert was equally as angry, either way.
He had sent an owl to Cassandra ordering her to appear in his office immediately and arranged for his schedule to be clear for the next hour. Long enough, he thought, to get to the bottom of this.
Gellert sat at his desk, the surface cleared except for a blank execution order sitting precisely in its center, a quill already in the inkwell. The tactic had always been an effective one when Gellert needed to intimidate on more than one level. He had never before had to use it with Cassandra, but then they had never been in a situation such as this before, either.
