He could have kissed her then, for the words that fell from her mouth, if they hadn't already been hurrying down the corridor. His hand grasped hers just as snugly; if it hadn't been him in the room when Gellert had woken up, he was genuinely glad it had been Perenelle. Of anyone else in the world, Albus was certain that she saw Gellert the most clearly. If she hadn't already been endeared to him, that alone would have been enough.
When they rounded the door, he saw nothing in the room but Gellert, framed by an otherwise insignificant blur of motion and activity. His breath snagged for a moment and his feet paused. "Would you please send word to Kastra," Albus requested, the words quick but measured. Far better for her to hear from Perenelle, who could empathise and encourage her, but did not have the authority to grant her permission to return to Berlin. He simply couldn't think about that just yet.
Stepping away from Perenell's side, Albus didn't even bother giving instructions to the healers, didn't order them aside- he simply slipped himself between them, barely noticed them, and then ignored them entirely. The healers could have the rest of Gellert's body for the time being, and true to form, after exchanging glances - some reigning in a bit of frustration over his intrusion and some suppressing smiles - they managed to work their way around where Albus had set himself at the side of Gellert's bed.
His hands descended to cup Gellert's face before he bent his head to press his lips chastely, gratefully, against Gellert's. A swelling warmth engulfed Albus's chest and he wanted so much to pull Gellert up into his arms, to bite a trail of kisses down his neck just to see a vibrant flush stain his too-pale skin, to grip him hard enough to bruise just to be sure that he was there and durable. But instead, his lips just melted a little softer against Gellert's.
Drawing back only just enough to speak, Albus softly asked, "Are you all right?" Alive was one thing. And as much as Albus trusted the healers in the room, Albus trusted Gellert infinitely more.
