It took more than a moment for Gellert to process precisely what was going on--where he was, and who it was that leaned over him. He felt something warm pressing down on his hand and the contact seemed to surprise him, his gaze flickering almost immediately to her fingers covering his own. He felt...heavy. Too tired, in a way he was not sure he had ever before experienced. His abdomen was numb and felt detached from the rest of his body, but he supposed that was to be expected.
At first, Perenelle's words seemed nothing more than a mindless buzzing somewhere overhead, but eventually they processed--in their basic gist, if not in full comprehension. Gellert's mouth felt far too dry and he wet his lips, eyes finally managing to focus on Perenelle's amidst the sway of the rest of the room. The first time he spoke, it was impossible to tell what he had said. But then he swallowed and whispered, a little louder this time-- "Albus...."
Alerted by the change in Gellert's vital signs, a team of two Healers and their nurses burst into the room, immediately going to Gellert to compare charmed monitor screens and amplify the sound of his heartbeat to be heard and examined by all. Gellert's eyes fell closed again. He was too exhausted to deal with this--with the noise and the tumult and the interruption. He just wanted to slip back into sleep again.
