Who: Kevin and Carver What: Doing what best friends do Where: The Beach When: Monday, May 25, afternoon Rating: Low
It was Carver’s duty to keep pressing on no matter how weird or bad things got. He’d somehow gotten this into his head from an early age and couldn't really say when it when it all started. Carver just had this need to make sure that everyone was okay, to make them happy, and not feel like he let them all down in the process. Granted, as a grown man, that had balanced out a bit. He still had a need to take care of people, be the provider of hugs, compliments, and assurances that they were beautiful and wonderful people. The thing was, Carver usually meant those things genuinely. If anyone could find the good in someone, Carver could, it was his superpower. Though, if he were honest, the last few days it had felt like it was his only superpower. He was trying his best not to feel disappointed about Scotland being out. He knew that no one would blame him for feeling like that, and yeah, okay, he actually been showing it a little bit. He’d been a little quieter than usual. But he’d also been rather dedicated to making sure his teammates were okay. To reminding them that they still had one more match to go on the 31st, and they weren’t just going to hand Portugal the win. They were all going to be little stubborn Scottish bastards about it. More or less. But he was still having problems with not feeling like he’d let everyone down. It was no secret how hard he worked for this. How much he wanted it. Though, he was sometimes afraid to voice that since everyone wanted this, they’d all worked hard for this. And in his head, he didn’t feel right complaining about it. He’d let himself feel a little bad, but really, it wasn’t for that long, and it was after Anthony had fallen completely asleep and Carver was just curled up next to him, and did his best not to be a pathetic sap and cry about it. Which...only half worked.
But, now that was a bit further behind him he was fully dedicated to spending time with Kevin, his life partner in crime. Or something like that. They had yet to really settle on an official title. Well, they had, but that title seemed to change about once every other month. And he was going to spend it outside on this beautiful day, with his beautiful best friend, at what was sure to be a really good party put on by the U.S. Team. Perfect distraction, and frankly, they could be just sitting around shooting the breeze doing not much of anything and Carver would be happy. Sometimes, he just needed Kevin time. A fact of life that would always be there. No matter how happy he was in a relationship (to which, the answer was extremely), or whatever else was going on in his life, he knew that Kevin would be someone he could not function without. And that by the end of the afternoon, they’d probably would have broken down into fits of giggles more than once. “I have no idea what they’re planning.” he said as they walked down the path to the beach. “But, should be fun, yeah?” they’d find a way to make it fun even if it wasn’t. Carver had faith in that.
