As Anthony continued to explain everything he nodded a bit, listening patiently for him to get all of the words out. Probably with a little more understanding than people might actually give Carver credit for. Despite the fact that most people assumed he'd been a Hufflepuff, Carver had been in fact sorted into Slytherin and it hadn't been a fluke of nature either. He had ambition, drive, and a strong sense of self preservation. Granted, sometimes his actions were a lot different than one might expect in the self preservation aspect. He chose to combat things with kindness, love, and all of those sorts of things because at the end of the day, he hated being angry. He didn't like dirty tricks and fighting with people. Carver was very much capable of standing up for himself when needed, but he'd gotten very good at picking his battles over the years. So, in a way, he could understand that whole stigma that Anthony was speaking to. He gave another little nod. "And male quidditch players are supposed to be manly-men, like Callen or the McLaggens or the Strettons." he said in a sympathetic sort of way, just to let him know that he could understand a little bit about that mentality. "Things are starting to change, so maybe one day the time will be right. I mean, hell, I survived being gay and being on the Falcons." Barely. But still, Anthony did not need to know about that right now. Besides, he'd made a small little joke to kind of ease the situation a little bit. Not fully take away the seriousness of it, but just ease it a bit.
If it had been any other situation, Carver would have thought that maybe there was something else behind not wanting to be public. But it wasn't that situation at all and the thought hadn't even crossed his mind. Carver sat there and listened some more, looking down watching Ant's thumb move across hand, selfishly enjoying the sensation probably more than he should have. Anthony had leaned over and kissed Carver's cheek before a response could fully formulate in his head, and a wide smile had spread across his face as he felt his cheeks grow warm. Damn. Just...damn. He let out a little bit of a low nervous chuckle as all the words had suddenly disappeared in his head for a brief second.
Carver turned his head upward so that he could look at Anthony, their faces not that far apart and he smiled softly at him. "but you're worth the wait. However long it takes." he replied trying to reassure him. Better to try than not. And the way he saw it, best case, things worked out, they'd make each other happy. Worst case, well, in Carver's eyes it had to be that things didn't work out, but, at least maybe he could get Anthony a little more comfortable with himself. Granted, he wasn't really leaping to those thoughts quite yet, but they were at least a possibility. "We'll go at your pace. What your comfortable with. We'll get there, however long it takes, okay?" he squeezed Anthony's hand again, really wanting to lean in and just give him a reassuring kiss, but given what had just been said, Carver wasn't going to rush into anything. "I'm okay with keeping everything under wraps for now."
