Jasper was tired after spending most of the day looking at flats with Meaghan and he could only imagine how tired his girlfriend was. They’d agreed to wait to discuss the places until they’d gotten home and could do so at their leisure and without rental agents hovering over their shoulders and trying to convince them to sign the lease right then. He wanted to cross the first place they’d gone to right off the list because while it had been nice - he hadn’t liked the way the woman’s attitude changed when she’d found out they weren’t married. He didn’t know what she’d been muttering as they walked through the place looking at it but he did know that he didn’t want her, or anyone like her, around their daughter if they could avoid it. And in the case of that woman - he was pretty sure they could avoid it.
“Go sit down and I’ll make us some tea. And a snack if you’re hungry?” he asked, walking over to the kitchen without waiting to see what her answer was. He’d hear her even if he wasn’t in the same room.

Meaghan was bloody exhausted. She and Jasper had been traipsing around all day looking at flat after flat. Some of them were all right, but as the day wore on, she grew more and more irritable. Being so pregnant meant that she tired easily and everything was swollen. Some of the potential landlords and ladies had clearly been judging their situation and it had taken a lot of self control not to react to that. The idea of leaving her own flat still saddened her, too, even if she knew this was the right step for them both.
“You’re really campaigning for boyfriend of the year, aren’t you?” she called out to him was he moved towards the kitchen. Ordinarily, she would follow him, but sitting sounded really amazing, so she made her way over to the sofa and sank slowly into the cushions. Being pregnant was blood uncomfortable. She was glad she was nearly done with it.

Jasper grinned when he heard her question, calling the answer back over his shoulder as he started making the tea. “Always,” he was teasing her but at the same time he was serious. He wanted to do everything he could to make her happy and comfortable. Or at least try to. “So yes or no to a snack while I’m in here?” he asked, turning around to look at her and leaning against the wall. “Or do you want to just go ahead and order something to be delivered?” He could cook, or she could if she wanted, but he was hoping that she’d agree to delivery. So that they could both stay off their feet and relax.

“Let’s order out,” she called back, deciding she would rather neither of them have to stand out there getting anything ready. They could get some good takeaway, that sounded really good after a long day of flat shopping. Then they’d be able to sit here and relax, which sounded a lot nicer than either of them standing in the kitchen for ages.
“What are you in the mood for?” she wondered out loud. She was getting pretty hungry, so she could eat just about anything.

“Chinese food? I can run out and pick it up if it’s going to take too long to deliver,” Jasper said. There was a pretty good place not to far from here and even if it had been - he did have his apparition license so he could pop over to near the restaurant and then back. He had the perfect spot in mind and had used it before.

Meaghan nodded, but she objected to the idea of Jasper going out to pick up the food. “I don’t mind waiting for delivery,” she told him. They could both apparate, but the idea of either of them leaving this flat didn’t at all appeal to her right now.
Honestly, she was so exhausted, she could also easily just curl up on this sofa and take a nap. She was definitely hungry, but it had been a long, tiring day. More so for Meaghan, considering how close she was to her due date. She knew Jasper probably wasn’t quite as beat, but that didn’t mean she wanted him to leave, particularly if he could be in here rubbing her aching feet.

Jasper smiled as he came back into the living room with the menu for the Chinese restaurant in hand so that she could decide what she wanted. He knew what she liked but he wanted to make sure to order exactly what she was in the mood for out of those things. He heard the tea kettle start whistling and leaned in to give her a quick kiss as he handed her the menu. “I’ll be right back. You decide what you want and then we’ll order.”
