Sally didn’t know what was going on with her but all day long she hadn’t been able to get Sabrina Corner off her mind which was what had led her to the Magpies offices that afternoon. Normally she would stop off to say hi to the other people she knew but that day she headed straight to their interns office a bright smile on her face, apparently not even hearing when someone called her name as she went past. She knocked on the door before opening it and sticking her head in. “Hi,” her stomach was full of butterflies as she met the younger woman’s gaze. Hopefully the butterflies would be the only problem her stomach gave her for the rest of the day. *** Sabrina had been having trouble concentrating all day. She wasn’t sure why, but her thoughts kept drifting to Sally-Anne Perks. She’d always liked the older girl in school, though they’d been a few years apart. She looked up to some of her older housemates a lot, but she didn’t usually spend her days daydreaming about them. In all honesty, she wasn’t even incredibly close to the girl, so it was strange that she couldn’t stop thinking about her today. She looked up and smiled brightly when Sally came through the door to her office. “Sally, hi!” she greeted her warmly, putting her work to the side. She was surprised to see her, but she was happy about it. Really, really happy, actually. *** Something about that bright smile warmed Sally and she came the rest of the way in and took a seat in one of the chairs opposite Sabrina’s desk. She was glad that she hadn’t started showing yet - even if she was certain that the news had probably gone through the Magpies offices - as she looked at the other woman. “I found myself realizing that it’s been forever since we had a chance to talk and I was wondering if you wanted to go grab a late lunch with me.” She and Sabrina might not have been close friends but she’d always gotten along with her and liked her well enough. She’d just never really thought about how pretty and sweet the younger girl was. *** “I would love to!” Sabrina had plenty of work to do and honestly right now there wasn’t anything she wanted more than to spend a little time with Sally. Grinning, she got up, reaching for her coat and purse. “I’m so glad you came by, Sally,” she added. “I was just thinking a moment ago that we don’t see nearly enough of each other.” She couldn’t help noticing that the other woman looked really pretty today and the way she looked at her made her pulse race. “So what are you in the mood for?” she asked as they walked towards the door. *** Sally grinned as she stood up, the soreness that had been bothering her earlier that day was gone. Or at the very least it wasn’t bad enough for her to notice it and for it to stop her from moving to meet the other woman on her way to the door. “Well today is the first step towards fixing that isn’t it?” she asked, she started to reach out to touch Sabrina’s arm and then stopped herself suddenly shy for some reason. “Do you like Italian food?” *** Sabrina nodded. “I love Italian,” she admitted. She walked closer to the older woman as they moved through the door, smiling as their arms brushed together. Even once they cleared the doorway, she didn’t move away, though. This was closer than she might walk to someone who was just a friend, but Sally was... Sally. She was beautiful and she was fun. They were friendly, true, but Sabrina had a little bit of a crush on the redhead. Maybe even more than that. *** Posted via Journaler. |
