In my dreams, I see you at the foot of some mountains, And we're taking some pictures or something. And we'd better hurry up…
Eisen knew that the longer he stayed up, the more likely he was to end up in someone's dreams. And the longer he stayed up, the more likely that someone was to be a stranger. But he had finally hit a breakthrough on the song he'd been writing for a few years now and damned if he wasn't going to finish it that night. He did, but as he headed toward his bedroom at three a.m. (after waking up at seven a.m. for his morning shift at work), he was completely aware that his control wasn't going to be too high that night. Maybe, he thought as he leaned back against the mattress, feeling his body instantly relax, maybe tonight will be different. Maybe I'll just sleep… he thought.
Just sleep, when you were Eisen Sprague, consisted of waking up when your alarm went off and feeling like you had just falling asleep. That, he'd decided long ago, was an annoying side effect of his particular "talent"; the fact that he didn't have dreams of his own. When talking to someone, hearing the phrase "I had this wicked dream last night" had always been something of a dread for Eisen, mostly because there was always the off chance that they'd ask him if he'd ever had similar dreams. The answer, of course, was always no. And giving the answer, getting the looks he did after he gave it and giving the explanation that always had to follow was never easy.
As he drifted off to sleep, he anticipated (with some trepidation) exactly where he would end up that night…
