WHO: John and Rosa
WHAT: Round 2
WHERE: Precinct
WHEN: 04/29, late night.
RATING: Medium for language.
STATUS: In progress.
It had been a long day of putting pressure on Plante, the best suspect they got. It was where the investigation had led after Detective Powers' discovery, and John would see it to the end, no matter what the outcome of the warrants and the interrogations was. If the guy was convicted, then case closed, and if not, then he'd be cleared and they could move forward from there. Either would be a step in the right direction, even when the latter meant a killer was still out there and that the brass would remain frustrated and impatient. John was frustrated too and remained at his desk long after other officers and detectives had gone home. The precinct was mostly dark now except for the illuminations needed for the night shift and John's desk. Remnants of his take-out dinner was in the trash and there was a mug of coffee on his desktop, but it had long grown cold as he thumbed through files and reports. They were all there with copies and photos tagged to the case board behind him, it not daunting him but still pissing him off.
Rubbing his face, John then looked at the copies of Titus Adronicus and Metamorphoses sitting on the corner of his desk. He'd gotten the contact information of the professor the lab rat had emailed him about, but he hadn't moved on it since following Plante seemed to bear fruit, but now... Now John contemplated the books and its few dog-eared sections. He'd gotten a clerk to mark them for him, and now he finally had a spot of time to read through some of the passages. Yes, the victim was not Lavinia, and while there were a few places that left him, John might be able to obtain something from a good read. Let it be known that he tried and that the hour did grow extremely late, but all of those things worked against him as his head slipped to the side and he ended up dozing.
