Who: John and Frank What: Dog sitting an the Martin home. Where: The brownstone, then Jack Martin's house. When: Saturday July 23, afternoon Rating: Medium Status: Incomplete Note: Ryan provided Jack's house description and Gambler's temperament.
After exchanging texts with both his father and Frank and calling Ms. Clements about his father's dog, John left the station to deal with the unexpected errand. He wasn't overly concerned that his father was in the hospital. The man was getting on in his years, but John wasn't going to act like the retired cop was suddenly incapable of taking care of himself. Between his siblings, Alex was far more likely to go keep him company anyways, so the detective would do his part by looking after Gambler for the duration... with Frank.
Or at least with Frank this one time. John didn't know what to think about his willingness to tag along. He'd accepted the company when his partner offered it, and it was likely better to not overanalyze it. He would pick up the dog, walk him and feed him, and Frank would have the opportunity to poke around his family home, which was both an amusing and horrifying thought. His father would probably kill him for allowing the badgeless invasion, but it was what it was and John wasn't going to change his mind. That and Jack would likely never know, since Frank was unlikely to accompany him every time he went to walk Gambler over the next two to three days.
Thus it was with a bemused shake of his head that he pulled up in front of the brownstone to retrieve the man in question. John found him in the exact same place he was likely texted from: in the back garden and in a hammock under the pear trees. Walking around Frank, the detective gave the hammock a push before crossing his arms. "So this is what you get up to all day. Must be nice."
