The Noble Brother. The idea wasn't as absurd to Itachi as it might've been to others. He'd wanted nothing more than to have Sasuke be The Noble one, but he had no idea if his plan would ever be brought to fruition. At this point everything seemed doubtful, he wasn't sure if time stopped at home, if he was in two places at once, or if he'd just disappeared in front of Sasuke while they were talking.
Regardless of which way it was, Itachi knew his time was limited. He didn't need anyone to tell him that.
"An immortal monster, hm?" Itachi let his thoughts drift to Orochimaru for a moment. He had believed that he could find immortality through rather distasteful means just so he could learn every jutsu. Seeking too much knowledge was a sin, especially the way that Orochimaru was seeking it. The thought that the Sannin had gotten his hands on his little brother bothered Itachi more than he would admit to anyone.
"I know a man who would disagree with you on living forever, but he is a rather vile creature." Itachi took in a deep breath, catching the scent of this man's blood on the air. "Everything can die, it is merely a matter of finding out how to strike that final blow. Strengths are ultimately weaknesses." He knew his own weaknesses, especially now that his body had began to deteriorate on him.
Nothing was without a price, so what would one drop cost him? Itachi worked out things in his head, knowing that in the end it would likely cost him dearly and he had no way of knowing how the blood would affect him exactly. There were plenty of monsters where Itachi was from, but none like Elijah.
Turning his head, Itachi closed his eyes, deactivating his Sharingan in the process. "I do not need your help." One way or another, Itachi would find a way to survive, and a way to get back home so that he could fulfill a promise he'd made. Opening his eyes, he took a few steps forward, and leaned down to collect the items that had been placed at the base of the sign for him.
Straightening, Itachi turned slightly, intent on going to the apartment complex.
Taking a few steps forward, Itachi paused for a moment as he neared Elijah. "Thank you for the offer, but there are some battles that are best fought alone." He needed more information before he made any rash decisions, especially concerning any consumption of blood.
