It struck Paul as very strange that this guy didn't know what a mall was. Most teenagers, at least Paul was assuming he was a teenager considering his looks, lived in malls. Considering the way the guy was dressed, however, led Paul to another conclusion; maybe there weren't malls where he was from.
Paul flashed him a friendly smile, "This is Test City Mall. A place where you can buy almost anything at decent prices." He kept still on the segway, before finally locking it and stepping down. Moving around it, closer to the young man, Paul's brows were drawn low over his eyes.
"I take it this is your first day being here?" He paused for a half second, and then corrected himself. "In Test City. Not a mall." Laughter parted his lips and he shook his head as his hands settled on his hips.
He remembered his first day in Test City. He'd been completely confused, discombobulated and alone. Maya, his mom, Amy? They were all back home probably worried sick about him, and Paul? Well, he was trying to make the best with what he had even though he missed them something fierce. It was hard to not think about them, to think about if they missed him - which he was certain that his mom and Maya did -, and how he was going to manage in a place like this.
So far he'd been doing okay, but late at night everything started getting to him.
"It's hard, being here, getting used to everything." He nodded, lips turned down slightly into a frown. "I'd say it gets easier, but I haven't been here that long myself." Time would tell how things went, if anyone he knew was brought from home or something. Paul shifted his weight from one leg to another, "I can't offer much, but I can offer you a tour around the mall if you want one?"
