She was confused, and Hayley didn't blame her. Hayley had adjusted pretty well here, herself because this wasn't her first rodeo. Before this, she'd been in fake Vegas. She knew what it was like to be supremely messed with. And something about the way Katniss carried herself told Hayley that she might know something about being messed with too.
"No Snow here." Hayley told her. "At least, not that I know of." She wanted to tell Katniss she was safe here, but that wasn't entirely true. This place threw stuff at them all the time, and there was just no telling what it might be next. If Hayley told Katniss this was a safe place, she'd be lying to her. She wanted to help make her feel more comfortable, but something told Hayley that wouldn't be easy either.
"I'm Hayley." She told the other girl, not moving any closer. She wanted to give Katniss space to breathe and to process all of this. "This is my daughter Hope, we've been here for a couple of months now." She explained. Hope cooed at the stranger from where she lay in her stroller.
