Work had been hectic for a Tuesday night. Rachel had greeted every single person with a smile on her face, walked them to their tables, and told them the name of their server before leaving them. It pained her to see couples enter, their arms intertwined, loving smiles on their faces, or worse, they'd kiss in front of her.
Every time it sent a pang of pain through her heart.
Still, Rachel put on her brave face, and did her job. Her boss was sorta scary, if she was being honest, and she didn't want to disappoint him or anyone else at Bello's.
After the restaurant closed, Rachel straightened the menus, humming softly to herself as she finished up her nightly duties. The foyer was vacuumed, glass cleaned, and things put back into their proper place. She clocked out right on time, and left out the back door without saying anything to anyone. It didn't matter. Making friends had always been difficult for Rachel, but those that she had made? They were the best.
Still, they weren't here and the people here were -- something else.
Reaching up she toyed with her pendant, a habit she couldn't break even if she wanted to, as she walked back toward the apartment building. She wasn't concerned about anyone hurting her, or really anything at the moment. Rachel was so lost in her own thoughts that she didn't notice stepping into the dark shadow until it was too late.
Rachel's brows furrowed low over her eyes, and she stopped in her tracks. Blinking, she slowly looked up, eyes widening at the sight of the giant hand hovering directly above her. "Oh crap." She was about to take several steps backwards but her legs wouldn't budge as something on the bottom of the ship opened. It had nothing to do with the ship itself, Rachel was certain of that, she was just afraid.
Figured she'd be kidnapped to a place only to be abducted by actual aliens.
That was not the case though, something poured out of the reserve, dropping directly down upon her. Water rushed over her fast, knocking her down on her butt and pushing her back a few feet. Rachel spluttered, and coughed, her scraped hands pressed back against the concrete of the sidewalk. Reaching up, she pushed a few stray strands of hair back out of her face, she looked back up in time to see the spaceship flip her off and move away.
It was like high school all over again. Letting out a laugh, Rachel shook her head, and pushed herself up. Hopefully what the ship had dumped on her had just been water, and nothing toxic. Rachel wasn't concerned about it really, this place didn't appear to be out to kill them, but she could be very wrong.
Still, it could've been worse, it could've dumped a slushie on her.
