Life had most certainly kicked her down, but Izzie knew her friends were right. She couldn't spend the rest of her life lying on the bathroom floor in her prom dress. Denny wouldn't have wanted that for her, as much as it broke her heart thinking about him. It was her fault he'd died, and alone at that. "Nope, not thinking about it," she muttered, gathering her purse and checking her outfit in the mirror before stepping out the door. It was entirely possible that Chief Webber would throw her out on her ass, and he had every right to, but she wanted to try. Izzie gave herself a mental congratulations for getting dressed and ready - even if it was hours later than usual - and reminded herself that she was a damn good doctor, though she did still have a lot to learn.
Lost in her pep talk, Izzie didn't notice that the world she stepped into was not the one she left. It wasn't until she turned to lock the door, keys in hand, that she realized the change in scenery. "What the heck?" She did a full 360, not believing in the slightest that she'd suddenly been transported to some random place. Walking through doors to get to a completely different place like this just wasn't a thing. Maybe she was still dreaming.
Impulsively, Izzie pinched her forearm. "Ouch! Motherf-" She bit back back the curse on the tip of her tongue and looked around, this time spotting the mobile device, laptop, card and keys. She read the welcome note and frowned. Test City? Enjoy your stay? What the hell kind of place was this?
"Oh no. This is not what I signed up for, okay? I was getting my life back together, damnit! I was going to do the right thing and go ask for my job back, and I end up here?" Izzie had started at a mutter, but she'd quickly progressed to yelling at the sky in an attempt to relieve the frustration currently bubbling up inside of her. "First, you make me fall in love and take him away from me. Now, you're taking away my friends, too? Is this some kind of cosmic punishment?" The sign for Briar Apartments was right in front of her, mocking her.
"Come on! I sat shiva!" Izzie kicked the side of the sign with enough force, she cracked the post at an angle that unbalanced the sign. "I need to go home," she murmured, trying her hardest to hold back her tears. Crying wouldn't do her any good right now, unless they somehow brought her Denny. That was the only way this stupid place would be worth it, and she sincerely doubted that would happen. He'd died. There was no coming back from that.
