It was too hot out. Sure sure it was nice to look up at the sky and not see the grey thick clouds that blotted out the sun...the by-product of the nuclear war that had wiped out pretty much all life on Earth. Yet after spending countless years wandering the post apocalypse landscape, well Simon was really missing the chill in the air. Oh the man didn't remember where he was going, or if he was actually returning from somewhere, when he stopped in the small little shade offered by the bus stop. All he knew was that it was just to darn hot. The pacing of the other man didn't seem to bother Simon in the least, heck the man in the bow tie actually seemed to wrapped up in his whispered conversation to himself to notice much of anything. Yet when the other man swore out loud Simon finally looked up from his seat on the bench.
He had no clue what was wrong but could sense the palpable frustration easily enough. So with a sigh Simon just gave in, gave in to the crown hanging on a rope off his belt. All those whispered words into his mind kept nagging him about the heat, and the outburst just seemed to be the final straw. Without saying a word Simon snatched the crown off the rope and sighed again as he put it on. "Just for a second...okay?" While no verbal response was granted even the crown seemed to agree as magic coursed through his body. Skin turned bright blue, a white bushy beard sprouted from the man's face, and his broken laughter cackled out for a second as the Ice King appeared in Simon's stead. No fanfare or explanation was offered at all as the odd looking man stood up onto his feet, and with a single raised hand a massive blast of snow and ice sprung to life. The freakish show lasted only a moment, but when Simon tore the crown off of his head his original form slowly returned.
The cool breeze seemed to ease his own tension and as he retied the crown to it's rope Simon glanced up at his 'creation'. A massive sheet of ice extended out from the roof of the bus stop, forming a far more comfortable spot of shade as the coldness aided in fighting off that stifling heat. With a soft smile on his now pink and beardless face Simon glanced over at his bus stop neighbor and softly spoke up at last. "Better?"
