Something like astonished, Richie watched a full grown man (if blue) start playing around in the snow like he was a kid. The culebra's overly expressive eyebrows knit as his expression settled into its usual judgemental confusion. Maybe part of his dislike for the childish bearded man was the fact Richie had been robbed of a childhood. Not that Richie liked talking about it because being some sort of stereotypical example of a victim of child abuse and abandonment and neglect wasn't what he signed up for. He hated people trying to offer him sympathy because he wasn't weak, no matter what they thought. Richie tended to cut ties with people who knew about his childhood or treated him like he was some fragile thing for something that happened after.
For the five years that Seth had been imprisoned and Richie dropped off the grid, it drove him insane how often his brother's ex-wife tried to weasel her way into his life trying to "help." All she effectively did was drive a larger wedge between them. Richie had always regarded her as almost a stranger and after that, he saw her as an intrusive hag. Even with his blatantly honest way of speaking, especially with Seth, Richie would keep that to himself if he ever saw his brother again.
It seemed like Richie's last question snapped the guy out of whatever weird reverie he was trapped in and once again, the crown was off and the man — Simon — looked normal again. The dark cloud that had hovered above them disappeared about as quickly as it had showed up and Richie found himself jumping back defensively to prevent the light from hitting him.
Apologies rarely registered with Richie. He never really trusted them and in his line of work, anyone who apologised was a liability of some kind or another. So, Richie skipped past that, not even acknowledging it. "Richard," he offered, no last name and nothing really personal. It was his first name, sure, but no one who really knew him called him that. He was also likely to still be on the wanted list, so sharing his last name could be dangerous. "Two days? Haven't tried to leave?"
