Why did he keep using that word. Spliced? What did it even mean, exactly? It had nothing to do with Hayley. She was at least sure of that. But people here seemed to come from all different worlds, and it wasn't the first time she'd encountered something like this. So she wasn't going to insult him or ask if he was out of his mind. He seemed nice, to her. She just wasn't really sure what he was getting it.
"I'm not spliced with anything." Hayley explained. "I was born a wolf, and through some circumstances I'm not going to get into right now, I became a hybrid. That is, I was killed with vampire blood in my system." She didn't want to get into all of it, not with a stranger. And there were too many painful memories there. All of that had been what caused her to miss months of her daughter's life in the first place.
"I'm not sure what you mean by spliced...but in my world, people are different things by nature or because they're turned that way. And vampires, witches, and wolves are very real where I come from." That was the best answer she could think to give for now, as she stood there with him. She wouldn't be rude, as he seemed to be a good guy, and he was something akin to a wolf at least a little. His questions hadn't bothered her, so much as confused her.
