Everyone else had left out for the day so Tony had the radio on louder than usual. He'd opened three of the garage bay doors to let what little air there was blow through. Test City was hot in the way Composite City had been without the benefit of having his personal space around for excellent climate control. Tony had excellent body temperature control. He simply didn't know what to do with himself when he was in a place bereft of central heat and air where he was working with sub-standard equipment and feeling as if he might as well have been back in the cave in Afghanistan.
Test City definitely didn't afford him many luxuries. He considered himself lucky to have great coworkers as well as Pepper.
If Pepper hadn't been around, Tony would have been a nuisance. He knew it. He would admit it to anyone who wanted to broach the subject with him. Shame was something Tony rarely felt. Ego he had in spades. Guilt was more his flavor of the day though he'd gotten over a lot of that since being a part of The Avengers. It helped to work off his guilt, anger, frustration, basically every negative feeling on the books. He appreciated having his team around, too. The guys weren't all his bestest, but they were people he trusted which went a long way for him.
Looking up at the sound of steps, Tony called out, "Skye? Person looking for inhibitors of some kind?"
He wasn't sure what to expect from the woman. Pepper -since being infected with Extremis- looked barely capable of taking a single hit yet the things she could do? Devastating. Natasha Romanoff -The Black Widow- could take down multiple men at once with her skills. She could do it without breaking a sweat or looking the least bit ruffled. Tasha was the perfect example of never judging a book by its cover. Tony would take Skye seriously until he found out she wasn't a real threat.
"Let's get sciencey!"
Tony laughed at the ridiculousness of the statement. It was on par with him explaining things to Thor. He was glad the big guy had shown up. Everyone's mood was lighter with the Asgardian around. His brother aside, Asgardians in general were fun to have around. He wondered if this Skye knew Thor or any of the other Avengers. She'd been mentioned in passing to him so she'd met a few of them. It would be nice if she proved a challenge for him. Tony was getting bored with fixing carburetors or picking parts of Necromorphs out of engines.
"Sorry, sorry. I get carried away a little. I amuse myself because no one else will. I'd let you ask my bestie, but I already know what JARVIS would say on the subject and it wouldn't be flattering. My ego couldn't take it."
'It is unlikely your ego would be, in any way, damaged by an assessment of your character by me, Tony.'
The AI spoke smoothly, calm and even. Tony rolled his eyes in reaction, mouthing to Skye, "Spoilsport."
