Kono Kalakaua, 6PM, OTA [Matt Murdock]
Funny and SEAL tended not to be descriptions used in conjunction with one another. Matt Murdock had a feeling Steve McGarrett was a different person around his family than strangers. It usually went that way with military people. He wasn't so familiar with military types, but he knew enough to know how things worked with them in average situations. There were some stereotypes which had a lot of truth in them. Meeting someone who had Kono's positive attitude and was devoted to their job as a police officer. Corrections wasn't generally a field where people had sunny dispositions. Matt had a feeling the Steve fellow recognized the value of Kono's positivity which was part of why he might be different around her.
Ohana.
It sounded like a nice thing to have. Matt had read up on it while he was studying different cultures in the world. He'd wanted to have a broader view than his father. It had been his old man's dream for him to be more than bruised knuckles and a set of numbers which ranked how successful he was in his life. Matt had went into law hoping he'd have made Jack Murdock proud. There was a certain irony in knowing he was still being judged based on a set of numbers similar to his father's fighting career. Boxers got ranked based on fights won versus lost; lawyers were ranked based on cases won versus lost. They were different types of battles, but they were both fighters.
Matt was more of one than his father had ever wanted him to be.
"He does sound pretty great. I hope he shows up soon for you. I'll let you get back to mingling. I'm going to be making my way toward the food. Burgers smell really good. Thanks for talking with me, Kono. Best of luck to you here with Test City PD."
