Pluto Around 530, OTA [John Wick]
Violet had insisted John come to the housewarming party. He hadn't every been to a housewarming party; for that matter, John Wick had to think hard to determine what a "housewarming party" was meant to be. His life did not consist of experiences which leant themselves to civilian life.
It was hard to think in terms of being law enforcement. Sheriff wasn't a role he'd sought for himself. Test City had saddled him with the job as if whoever ran the place knew he was capable of handling it even though he himself didn't know that at all. Violet was confident in him as was Pepper. They were both lovely in different ways. John could relate more to Pepper than to the younger woman, but he was drawn to Violet in a different way from anyone he'd ever been around.
She was a bright light in the universe; he was a Death's-Head Hawkmoth drawn to the illumination in his otherwise dark, nocturnal life.
"I take it you aren't comfortable at these things either?"
His hands dangled loosely at his sides. John didn't eat at parties. Poison was a real threat for him. Even The Boogeyman could be poisoned.
The woman had an uncomfortable look to her in her own skin. Strange considering she was outlandish in appearance. People who typically chose unorthodox appearances often did so for attention. They wanted to stand out, not blend in. He imagined it was possible her looks were natural. Stranger things had happened in Composite City. He'd been spied on by an invisible girl who dragged him to housewarming parties for strangers....
"I was dragged by an invisible girl. Literally. She's visible now. Over there," John pointed to Violet where she was smiling, laughing, talking to someone as easily as breathing, "Did you come alone or were you Shanghaied, too?"
