Ella smiled at her companion, falling into step next to her as they continued on down their chosen path. She listened intently, jealous for a brief moment that Aurora had gotten so much time with her fairy godmother, with a mother figure. It was only a brief moment, gone from one to the next, and Ella was grateful for that. She didn't enjoy being jealous of anyone, least of all for their relationships. Her two brief encounters with Kit had been lovely, but a palace was no place for her. It would be a dream to cherish for the rest of her life.
"Wings!" Ella's entire face lit up at the possibility. "My fairy godmother did not have wings, only magic." She was keenly aware that the woman still had not gotten her wings back, so she didn't want to dwell. "I am sorry that they were stolen from you. Perhaps you'll be able to get them back here," she offered in consolation. "It must be nice to have a park like this, with such wide open spaces. I am certainly glad for it. My home is on the edge of town, you see, and so the forest was all around us. I loved to ride through the trees and meadows whenever I had the time. It is a kindness, for me, to have this sanctuary here."
It was so peaceful and quiet, particularly at night. "I love coming here after dark, so that I can see the stars. They're so beautiful and clear here, the way they are back home. It's just another bit of familiarity that never fails to make me feel better." Ella glanced at the woman beside her. "Does it remind you of your home, too?"
