People typically didn't turn to Peter Quill for answers. Quill was usually the last person to get questioned about anything which was fine by him. He'd only made it to the fourth -or was it fifth?- grade in school. Education wasn't high on his list of requirements for happiness. All the things he'd needed to learn had been learned among the Ravagers. Stealing, looting, piloting, Quill could get by and live thanks to the Ravagers who hadn't eaten him. He had forgotten how it felt to know absolutely nothing about the galaxy other than Old Terra.
"Ravagers are more like a gang than anything else. They're a space tribe. Scavengers. Steal anything and everything they can get their hands or other appendages on. Their leader is Yondu Udonta. He's from Centauri IV and happens to be a Zatoan. Nasty tribe. You really don't want to make him angry. I've seen him kill an entire battalion himself. In seconds. They're telekinetic. Trust me: do not mess with a Zatoan. They will literally tear your stomach out of your throat and then make you eat it again. Very, very nasty."
Yondu had found it hilarious when Peter had made the mistake of saying something of the sort to another Ravager. Peter had only been trying to sound tough. Yondu had decided to try to really make a point by proving no one put hands, fingers, mouths, or anything else on his pet Terran without paying a price. They'd scrubbed the main floor of the mess for three days to get all of the debris. Peter never liked to think about it because it'd been one of the few times after being taken from his home when he'd cried in his bunk. All he'd wanted was to go home where he knew he'd be safe. He figured it couldn't be too bad even if his mom weren't around.
Trying to go through the list in his head, Peter shrugged one shoulder again in dismissal, "No idea how many there are in total. I can name maybe 50? 60 species? Most of them got different races like humans, too. I've been to so many planets. It's hard to keep track. If you're on Nova Prime? You should run into at least a dozen different species at the landing pad. No way you won't. Nova Prime is the central planet of the major galaxy. It's New Terra since there's some variant of humans there. I'm not the best guy to ask really. I'm just a guy who got by out there. Sounds like you're good at getting by, too, Doctor Jack. You want me to show you around the place? Get you familiar with the territory? I'm good for that."
