That Lady Carter would show her kindness after mistaking her identity was something her mother would have done. Ella wrapped her arms tightly around the other woman's waist, hugging her back fiercely as she cried, unable to stop herself. She'd spent a good number of years, having courage and being kind the way her mother had taught her, and yet Lady Tremaine and her stepsisters pushed her to the end of her tolerance. How could anybody be so cruel, let alone all three of them? Now that she was free of their constant and never ending demands, Ella hardly knew what to do with herself.
Her sobs subsided after what was only a few minutes, though to Ella it felt like hours, and she was able to pull away, worried that she'd overstepped her bounds. "I-" Ella had every intention of apologizing again, of begging off, but the look that Lady Carter was giving her, so concerned, made her change of mind. "I know you're not my mother, Lady- Peggy," she corrected, her cheeks coloring slightly at the mistake. "I could use a cup of tea, I think. Would you...Would you join me? I would very much like to thank you for your kindness, and to make up for dampening your blouse." The cafe wasn't too far a walk, if Lady Carter had the time to spare.
