This was not Verdant. Being here just made Thea miss her club even more. It was almost an insult that she had to play hostess here. She had to remind herself that there were worse places she could be, and working at the cafe in Corto Maltese hadn’t been so bad. She’d even liked it, but of course then she was also training with Malcolm every day. All of that had come to a standstill here, with the exception of the whole...monster thing. But even that was short lived, not that she was complaining. No one should have to deal with that.
She couldn’t help feeling bored and useless most of the time. It was annoying. She was leading this little mundane life here, when who knew what might be going on at home. It was hard to be here alone, even if she was working on making some friends. This was not her home, nor would it ever be, especially if she never had someone from home show up.
She could exist, she could live with the cards she’d been dealt here, but that didn’t mean she had to like it. She was perfectly poised and polite as the hostess, since she felt like it was important to make a good impression if she ever hoped to run another club.
She noticed there was a new customer and the bartender hadn’t helped him out yet. She took it upon herself to do so. They couldn’t have him waiting all night, could they? Thea walked over to Sean and smiled.
“Hi, welcome to Test City Bar & Grill. What can I get you?” At least she didn’t gag on the words.
