Alex had determined by what he'd said that where he came from was very fucked up. She didn't know specifics but she knew enough to know that survival in such a place could not be easy. That made Carlos an asset as well as an ally. He didn't have to risk himself in coming here, the fact that he had proved what kind of man he was. It also proved that Alex could trust him, and that wasn't something that ever came easy for her.
She was glad to hear he was hanging in there. That was all anyone could do under an attack like this one. Hang in there and don't lose hope. Alex could almost hear Nikita's voice in her head. She'd come so far from the broken girl she'd been just 3 years ago.
"I'm no stranger to fighting." Alex told Carlos with a nod. "But normally my enemies are human." It was a whole different world here. She was just starting to get used to it all. These creatures were unlike anything that she had ever faced before. But she was not going to give up, or go down without one hell of a fight.
That was who she was. A fighter. A survivor.
She nodded again at his words. "I'd like that. Unless you have somewhere else you need to be." There were a lot of people here who needed protecting and Alex was going to do her best to keep them all safe. It's what Nikita would have done.
