Monsters were supposed to be the stuff of legends. Not real. But zombies weren't supposed to be real either. Liv was quickly learning that there were all kinds of threats out there. If zombies were a thing, why not monsters? Seeing was believing as they said. And Liv had certainly seen these creatures were all too real.
Charlie was right. Right now their only chance was to run. Liv didn't truly know if they could do anything to her. She also wasn't keen on finding out. And even if her zombie status made her immune, Charlie was not. They could hurt him, they could kill him. And he had still risked himself to come to her rescue. That was a good friend. And quite possibly a crazy one.
So there they were with the running. She would have felt much better if they had a weapon, but they didn't. They probably wouldn't make it to the apartments. That was a long shot, maybe even a pipe dream. But they would find a safe place, there wasn't another option. She wasn't losing him. They would be okay.
So she ran with him, not saying another word. What these creatures could do, it wasn't pretty. She didn't want to find out what they'd do if they got their hands or claws on either of them.
The park wasn't far, surely there would be some safe place there. They could only hope. But these things had to have a weakness too, they just had to discover it. Later. Much later, when they were safe.
