"I love being a one-of-a-kind. Not that I'm likely to get copied or wind up as a sad parallel to anyone anytime soon. One of the perks of being lightyears ahead of the competition," Tony laughed as he threw the door open for Death.
They could have a good time. Pepper would like he was trying to make nice with the locals even if Death wasn't exactly the locals. She was her own person. It took a while for someone to get to be a local. He hoped they didn't wind up being there long enough to stop being New Yorkers. Even if they had a house---well, more than one house in more than one city, Tony still considered the pair of them New Yorkers.
It was interesting how he considered himself anything in particular. Tony had been through a strange childhood. He'd been no one other than Howard Stark's son. There was nothing else he could have been in anyone else's eyes. All they saw was his father when they looked at him.
Tony had changed that. He had become his own man. He'd become Tony Stark. He had made Stark Industries something else when his father had only made it something. He was proud of his life even if he'd done plenty he shouldn't be proud of in the past.
"I have to say, this is an experience for me, too. So are you as old as the universe? Older? There's more than one universe so more than one answer? Give me a hint here. I'm dying to know."
