8:39 am - Calling All Cedrics!

crasianclaw
Hey guys! If this isn't allowed, just let me know. I'm all about the peace and cooperation. 8D

Anyway, I'm one third of the mod team over at the wonderfully wonderful and awesomely awesome RPG [info]one2ndchance here on IJ. We're AU, post-war/post-warts set in 2000. We're a spin-off from another game that ended early last year, but we ourselves are almost two years strong. But don't worry! We have a very detailed FAQ section, and many players (including myself) have been around since the very beginning and will be happy to answer any questions you have. There is no risk of us dying off.

Well, I play Cho over there (you can read about her here; I also play Tonks and Ernie Macmillan) and she would absolutely love to have a Cedric to banter with and love! Wait, what? Yes. The original mod of the game we spun-off from said that she would not be opposed to someone playing Cedric if they could come up with a good reason for why he is now alive. You can read about that here.

What we have and don't have )

She's a lot little angry at Cedric right now because he keeps up and leaving (aka we keep losing our Cedric players for some reason... someone needs to break the curse!) for chunks of time every so often. But, give her some time, she'll forgive him eventually. She always does.

Well, that's it, folks! Talk to me at rubberbandtheory on AIM, or PM me for my MSN, if you have any questions!

10:59 pm - Murphy's Law Valentine Challenge!

minisinoo
I originally posted this on LJ's TwoSeekers Harry/Cedric community, so I had that pairing in mind, but if anybody wants to take this and run with it for a different Cedric pairing, feel free. :-)

The Murphy's Law Anti-Romance Valentine Challenge
"If something can go wrong, it will." Sometimes a little anti-Romance is fun. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to pen a story in which one boy or the other makes [grand?] plans, but things don't go accordingly. The direction you take it is entirely up to you -- it can be serious, funny, angsty, romantic, silly, canon-compliant or AU, long or short, with them as boys or as adults -- they might not even be making plans with each other! The only absolute rule is that things can't work out, at least not in the way intended. And I should add to this, I don't mean some minor problem like getting the meeting time mixed up ... unless that leads to a subsequent chain reaction like Joe Diffie's hysterical "Third Rock from the Sun." ;>

STORIES DUE ON VALENTINE'S DAY. If you finish before that, just hold on to them; I'll post a reminder or two in case people worry they might forget. :-)

9:24 pm - FIC: Rise From the Ashes [Teddy/Cedric, NC-17]

midnitemarauder
Title: Rise from the Ashes
Author: [info]midnitemarauder
Rating: NC-17
Pairing(s): Teddy/Cedric (Cedric/Roger Davies, reference to Cedric/Cho)
Disclaimer: Property of JK Rowling and Co. I merely play for no profit whatsoever.
Summary: Muggles have an old saying: "Be careful what you wish for, you might just get it." Teddy never quite grasped the meaning, until he made a wish of his own.
Warnings: Underage (16 & 17)
Word Count: @ 36,000
Author's notes: Written for [info]tarie for 2007's [info]merry_smutmas. Much love and gratitude to my betas, [info]inksheddings and [info]paranoidsistah, and [info]xingou for the extra pair of eyes and encouragement. Titles nicked from Vienna Teng's "Eric's Song".

For those who care, this story is actually canon compliant - in the sense that it does not contradict canon. Until it does, by both choice and necessity. So yes, as you can probably guess from the pairing, it does become AU.

The story is eight chapters plus a prologue, posted in my journal in four parts:

Part 1 - Prologue, Chapters 1 & 2 | Part 2 - Chapters 3 & 4
Part 3 - Chapters 5 & 6 | Part 4 - Chapters 7 & 8

current mood: accomplished

2:10 pm - Happy Birthday, Cedric! (fic prompts)

minisinoo
Deathly Hallows is out, there's new canon, new-generation love, and Cedric had his moment in the sun in Goblet of Fire. But he's still my boy and I do miss reading the Cedric-fic. (huggles him)

As we know, in order to enter the Triwizard Tournament, Cedric had to have been born sometime after September 1st but before October 31st. I thought I'd toss out some prompts in celebration -- see if it stirs up any creative juices. :-)

Two months.* Four prompts. Grab one if it tickles your fancy.

Remember, Cedric Diggory (and all that)

1) Cedric survived the Triwizard Tournament … because he didn't enter his name in the first place.
I've always been intrigued by the fact Cedric doesn't seem like the "eternal glory" sort of fellow. Did he enter to please his parents? His housemates? Cho? All of the above? What if he put his foot down and decided "eternal glory" wasn't his cuppa? Ruminations at the time, or 20 years later -- what became of the Champion who wasn't?

2) Harry plucked up his courage and asked Cho to the Yule Ball before Cedric … and she said yes.
Take it and run in any direction you like: he's heartbroken, he's mildly disappointed but not crushed, or he had his eye on somebody else all along.

3) Cedric and Luna as friends, or even substitute-siblings.
Like the Weasleys, the Diggorys and Lovegoods live near Ottery-St.-Catchpole, but the Weasley kids always had each other. Cedric and Luna are (apparently) only children. Did they play together as kids? Did Cedric act as Luna's big brother at Hogwarts? Did Cedric's mum take Luna under her wing? Show them either as children or later at Hogwarts -- whatever floats your boat.

4) Cedric the prefect vs. Fred and George Weasley the pranksters.
They're in the same year, if not the same house. Cedric is a prefect. Fred and George … aren't. They also don't seem to like him much. Is it just because Hufflepuff beat Gryffindor at Quidditch? Or is there more to the hostility?

*Yes, it's September 4th, but I thought it safer to wait to post this until after the Labor Day holiday in the U.S.

6:23 pm - Welcome post

minisinoo
A community for anything related to Cedric Diggory, this includes fiction, art, manipulations, vids, and general discussion.

In order to combat fandom fractionalizing, this comm brings it all together ... as long as it has to do with Cedric. Fiction? Any pairing welcome here (het or slash) -- or none. Any rating, any length. Visual art? Same deal. Discussion? Have at it. One-stop shopping for Cedric.

But because this is one-stop shopping POLITENESS REIGNS. Please. That means if it's not your pairing or preference, don't read or look at it. No flaming, no posts about how "idiotic" one pairing is over another, etc. And yes, actually, that includes pairings that aren't directly related to Cedric. We'll have no wars here between the Harry/Hermione contingent versus the Ron/Hermione contingent ... or anything else. That, btw, includes Jo, herself. If you've come here to bitch about how you hate her writing, Harry Potter, and etc., er ... why are you here?

Please note, there is a difference between flaming, and polite or constructive criticism. Flaming and ad hominem attacks are not welcome, polite or constructive criticism is fine. Also when posting discussion or comments or what-have-you, please always keep in mind the difference between a "fact" (Cedric Diggory is a fictional wizard in the Harry Potter universe) and an "opinion" (I think Robert Pattinson's Cedric was the best thing since sliced bread, OR Cedric is Teh Gay).

Because this comm does cover a lot of potential ground, we ask for a little assistance from posters. It would be terrific if in the Header you could preface your subject with FIC, ART, VID, MANIP, or TALK. Also, if you're bringing fiction, art or something with a title, please include a header something like this:

TITLE:
AUTHOR:
SUMMARY (if applicable):
CHARACTERS/PAIRINGS:
WARNINGS/RATING:
(Anything else we should know:)

That above is a suggestion, not a hard and fast rule; add to or subtract from it as necessary. But if you're bringing fiction, we really, really suggest you not neglect a summary. We also insist on the use of GJ cuts for long posts, please!!! Show consideration to your fellows. Anything lengthy (e.g., stories, big art, etc.) that does NOT appear inside a cut will have 24 hours to be corrected and then it'll be deleted. Please always double-check your post once you've made it!

Adult Material: Is welcome, but if your story or visual contribution contains it, please so indicate. We do not require ratings, but we do require a clear indication of adult material within. If your contribution contains material that may be disturbing or potentially offensive, please indicate as much in warnings (which are in addition to the "adult" rating). If telling WHAT the "disturbing content" is would seriously undermine the plot, then it doesn't have to be spelled out, but it should be clear that this story (or art piece or vid) contains potentially disturbing content. If I have readers complaining to me that so-and-so had Cedric and Amos performing hot monkey sex on the kitchen table in front of mum and there was no indication that it was more than "adult" ... er, I'm going to ban some arses.

Remember, as this comm is one-stop-shopping, minors may join and posts are not (at least at present) moderated, so ALL adult material should be clearly marked and squirreled away behind cuts (or even hosted on one's own website or journal). I do not mind the use of links to other journals or websites here.

If you ever have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
