"It can be very glamorous." She agreed with a nod that made her hair swish. When he mentioned How I Met Your Mother, she couldn't help but make a face. "That's that show about that guy that sleeps with half of New York. That doesn't happen. I don't think, at least." Okay, she was exaggerating the concept of the shows, but from the episodes she had caught on tv, it seemed like that was the case. "But maybe that is the more po─ moderate side of the NYC." Because 'poor' wasn't a word you used around someone that might be considered poor.
When he asked what sort of films she liked, she had to consider what genre they fell into. "Hmm, I don't know. I guess they're mostly considered chick flicks. Or historical films, and I guess period pieces..." If Aleksei was getting anything from the way she talked about the things she liked, it was probably that it didn't seem like even Alice knew what she liked. She didn't, she knew what she was supposed to like.
"Can you dance or do you just like it?" She arched a brow, eyes narrowing in a scrutinizing manner on him. She imagined him more like a flailing nerd on the dance floor, probably windmilling all over the place.
His likes were the typical sort of thing that everyone could enjoy, until he mentioned he had a job. "Oh, you work?" Which duh, of course he worked. Her cheeks colored a little as she realized how stupid that was to ask. "I mean... here? I guess people do, don't they? My parents would never let me work while I was in school. But, I don't know how it could be fun? There's only small shops and restaurants here." And for Alice, that sounded like slave work. "Where do you work?" Maybe it was somewhere that she didn't know about yet.
His last question once again caused her pause as she considered what she might do if she had the option. "I don't know." She said, sounding a little dumbfounded. "Maybe something with art? Something that isn't offered here." If she was really honest, she'd rather skip the whole school thing and travel or live a fancy lifestyle that didn't require education but instead just being independently wealthy.
