Alice was nodding along, trying to delicately eat at the same time as he spoke. She understand what he was saying, and while she could see what he meant, she didn't really think along the same lines. She was reclusive though, so that was probably why. People saw her as rude and unfriendly, and while that was true, it was all natural reactions, so she felt at least she was being honest.
"I've only been to dress-up parties." She'd never been to anything that involved a solo cup and people making out on couches. Most of the events she attended were galas, things thrown by her parents or their friends and or business partners. She usually had to wear a pretty dress, sit in a chair, and try to not look bored. Maybe he was right ─ maybe she would like his kind of parties. Not that she'd ever loosen up enough to do so.
She was surprised that he agreed with her, not finding him to be the type to do the same, but then he threw in the compliment that she wasn't naive enough to miss, and it caused her to blush. She even laughed though, because it was ridiculous in her mind. "Is that why we're here?" Because he was nice? Maybe.
"What if I just didn't want to pay for my own lunch?" Which was more or less true, but now that she was there with him, it wasn't as bad as she had thought it was going to go, which made that idea invalid in her mind.
