Christmas, before the Pulse, had always been a wearying time of year. His office had been flooded with follow up appointments from hospital visits or college kids trying to get the booster shots they needed before gallivanting to some adventure funded by some university. He found the mind set hadn't changed much while traveling the little over two years prior. It wasn't much different here, no doubt there would be injuries and people eating too rich of foods. So he braced himself.
This included morning doctor visits to the Tawa who provided him with marijuana as payment sometimes, though it wasn't his drug of choice. Too much second hand and far too valuable for the Tribes people who had serious conditions and there wasn't much he could do but provide pain relief. He's done with his visit though, watching Amy play with two children from a Tawa couple play and draw in the parking lot using white stones. He lets her indulge for a few moments when he spots Styder and bows his head in greeting. After a second more (really making sure the kids are okay) he ambles over to the other man. "I see preparations are coming into play today. Everyone's excited." Which might be a polite way of saying what the Tribe leader could be worrying about.
