There's a considerable pause as she thinks about this. Vesper's always mistaken for slow by some of the newer residents of the Locks. But it was developed by her time in Angel Mount where it was expected that communication would be a rarity. Words counted. And even that didn't stop her from losing her temper with Sister Marguerite over three years ago. "So it seems," She said finally, "Even the smallest is apart of a hierarchy. But some are still of the opinion small parts are easy to replace."
There is a careful and considerate look at Lot before her eyes dart away. This was a familiair activity to her, but not familiar enough with a man she had something of a crush on. But Vesper wouldn't forgive herself if she stammered and agreed, "A little better in some cases. I know that a few families down by the Marina who lived here before had other jobs and hobbies. Stuff they did here like basketball, football. You have the former Cascade Locks High School's football coach in your midst. It's stuff like that they miss. But it is a lot better for others... graduation here wasn't all that high." Oh, Lot wasn't perfect and that was okay. Vesper knew humanity wasn't perfect. All one could ask of any leader is to take care and to listen to their people.
Oh, her heart was being stupid again. Hammering loud with a gesture that's meant to be clever - nothing else. She glanced over shyly. "Omnipotent and sneaky. That's kinda of a scary combination there."
