JD wasn't much of a trader at all. Her skills were usually only utilised around the Oma territory or in return for something. Never the other way around. So she pursed her lips together in thought at his comment before she shrugged and smiled at him.
"Dude, if you can teach me some basic human fixery than that would be good enough." 'Fixery' was a 'JD word'. A 'JD word' was basically used in reference to her tendency to make words up in place of something else. It was something she had done for as long as she could remember. But she was serious. Knowledge was something she loved and if she could get any kind in return then she was a happy bunny.
She nodded at the mention of children needing the break. It was good to see them playing and enjoying themselves without worrying or being told to watch where they went for a while. "Yeah, I guess it's because Buck's a dad too. He gets it. Even though watching the kids laughing and playing kills him, what with..." JD abruptly cut herself off. Her mouth making an audible noise as she shut it. She was doing it again. Going on and on and revealing things about other people that she shouldn't be. It was common knowledge amongst the Cascade Locks natives and the Omas that Buck had 'lost' his kids but he would kill her if he found out she was blabbing his personal stuff about.
"You seem to be doing alright by her." JD said softly. She listened to him talk about his friend. "What happened to him, your friend I mean? You don't have to tell me if you don't want. Wouldn't want you to think I'm nosy or anything."
She shrugged at his question, sipping her own drink as her whole being seemed to suddenly become more quiet and sombre. A real contrast to how the girl usually was. JD didn't talk about what happened to her between leaving San Francisco and arriving in Cascade Locks. It wasn't something she liked to think about. "Oh you know, I got separated from a big group of us who left the City and then I don't really remember much. I was pretty sick for a while. Smith found me and brought me back to the Omas and I've been here ever since."
