"No you won't," Topher said firmly. "You'll just need time to adjust and compensate for it." He knew that was far easier said than done. He couldn't imagine learning to live without something you'd had your whole life. Sure, Topher had one lung but he had been born like that, he hadn't lived with two and then lost one. He imagined knowing what it was like to have two would be far harder to deal with.
He nodded as she said to do it. Permission was good but she didn't really have much of a choice. Remove it and survive, leave it in and die. That much was certain. "Ok. You realise it'll have to be done under local anaesthetic, right?" he said, doing the mental calculations with how much they had left. They didn't have the means here and now for general. "And I'll need to go and get someone to help me."
