Despite how exhausted he was, Daniel still hadn't slept much since arriving here. He hadn't been able to relax enough to rest and every time he had found himself dozing off he had jerked awake, panic clawing at his chest. He couldn't sleep. He had to keep watch over the kids and he was so on edge that even the smallest sounds put him in a hyper-alert state.
He glanced at the two children, still sleeping curled beneath the pile of blankets on the pews. He was glad to see them looking more relaxed and rested. Daniel rose from his spot next to them - stretching until his back popped - with the intention of stretching his legs and seeing if he could get them something to eat and drink once they woke up.
The voice made him jump and he turned too fast to look in the direction it came from. A wave of dizziness hit him, his vision blackening at the corners and he put a hand to his head as he swayed. The woman's questions going answered as he rode out the dizzy spell.
