"It's going to hurt for a while," Topher commented, his tone soft, as he began to wrap her ribs, letting the stethoscope fall to hang around his neck. "Keep the strapping on just for today to help ease and control your breathing but make sure you come back tomorrow so I can remove it for you. Otherwise it'll just hinder your breathing in the end and could cause complications," he explained as he tied off the strapping.
He moved away again to unlock the medical cabinet and get some painkillers and anti-inflammatories out along with two empty bottles so he could count them out into them for her. "It should take about eight weeks."
Topher moved back over to her and held up the bottles in turn. "Enough pain killers and anti-inflamms for those eight weeks, if you need more . Better days would have been three times a day, now only enough for two of each a day. No alcohol and take them with food." He placed the bottles down in front of her so she could take them.
"Now, several things. First, rest, you can't do too much or you risk getting fluid in your lung or worse causing it to collapse but you don't have to stay bed-ridden, in fact, just don't do that...do light activities but no lifting, strenuous activity or fights. Second, try to put cold water on the swelling and bruising regularly. And three... Do slow deep-breathing and gentle coughing exercises every 2 hours" His brow furrowed as he thought. "When you sleep try to find a position that makes breathing easiest."
