Amy was still hanging onto her father's leg, and the hunter looked down at her with something perilously close to amusement in her eyes. "Would you mind if your dad and I had a word alone?" she asked politely, believing it was best to speak to the girl as if she had a brain in her head. The more you talked down to a kid, the more they acted up, it was a fact she remembered from her own childhood.
When Charles' - Doc's - daughter had left the room, Orion turned back to face the man head on. "So you're a real doctor?" she asked, although she already knew the answer. "We haven't had one of those around before, not one that hasn't already chosen a tribe. What made you decide to bring medicine out here to the boonies?"
