Veterans Day Celebrations A parade and dance will mark celebration of Veterans Day — formerly known as Armistice Day — this Tuesday, November 11. The parade, which begins at 10:30am at Bartell St. and 1st Ave, will include veterans groups, Personville High’s R.O.T.C., and the local Boy Scouts troop. There will be special screenings of World War II movies all day long at The Imperial Theatre, and the V.F.W.’s Veterans Day Dance will begin at 7pm in the gymnasium of Personville High. |
Investigations Into Police Brutality Allegations Begin Inquiries have been opened in the case of Patrick Lail, who has alleged that he was assaulted by members of the Personville police force while being taken into custody at Playland Parkway on November 3. The officers, who have not been named, took Lail, 38, into custody while publicly intoxicated on the evening of the 3rd. Criminal assault charges may be filed if investigations confirm Lail's account of assault by police. |
Upcoming Events The Personville City Council invites you to a town hall meeting on Wednesday, November 19 regarding crime, public safety, and other important issues. Looking for some entertainment on Saturday, November 22? Aspiring dancers, singers, and comedians take to Two Belles' stage to compete for cash prizes. The competition is hosted by the charming Duke Meosita; all entries into the competition must be submitted by 11/20. Mobster Turned Loose Domenico "Little Nicky" Zanetti, an alleged mobster with ties to the Cavallo crime syndicate, will be paroled from federal prison Friday after serving nearly 7 years of a 10 year sentence. Zanetti, nephew to reputed mob boss Vincenzo Cavallo, was sent to prison in 1944 after a federal conviction for armed hijacking. Zanetti and his crew were identified by two credible eyewitnesses; both men vanished under suspicious circumstances in the months following the trial. |
