WHO: Darcey and Preston WHEN: September 25th, Evening; After this. WHERE: Varrick common room. WHAT: Having tea and talking. RATING: Low. They are proper young people and just meeting! OPEN: No, though if you REALLY feel like you must, ask one of us and we'll consider it.
The whole idea that she had managed to score a date, or whatever, after ranting about the opposite sex still astounded Darcey. It hadn't been her intention, and now she wasn't quite sure what to do. Of course, Preston seemed like a genuinely nice bloke, and all they had to do was drink their tea and talk. It wasn't like they were going to some intimate encounter after only commenting on the journals for a few minutes. Darcey was just glad to see some members of his gender still had proper manners. She was really in a foul mood thanks to her git of an ex boyfriend, and it was a mood that was hard to shake. A lot of what Alastair accused her of was true, though she wasn't going to admit that to the prat. Darcey knew she hadn't handled things between them correctly, though she'd tried as hard as she could. It wasn't her fault that he didn't understand how close her friendship with Reed was. It was complete rubbish to accuse her of being madly in love with him (even though she was), and then shout all sorts of insults at her in the middle of the common room. Things had ended about a month ago, but apparently Alastair had the capacity to hold quite the grudge. Darcey's only saving grace was that not a lot of people were around when he decided to throw his tantrum, though enough were there to humiliate her for the rest of her life.
Trying to shake the memory off, she instead focused on waiting for Preston. Tea sounded wonderful, and it would be nice to talk to someone who wasn't a complete idiot. She could only hope that she didn't spoil what seemed to be a nice gesture by letting her mood interfere. The comment from what appeared to be his own ex was concerning, though Darcey certainly had no business talking OR judging. His business was his own. She just hoped this didn't come back to bite either of them later on.
