As he waited, Memphis hummed a little tune to keep himself occupied. He wasn't expecting Storm to ignore the knock because he knew she didn't have any idea that he would come. People continued to walk by and he would occasionally wave or salute, at least until he heard the doorknob turn. His attention immediately shifted back, and he straightened himself up a little so Storm could get the full effect when the door was finally pulled open. A confident smirk took over Memphis' face as he watched the shock transform her own, and he gave her a few minutes to process what she was seeing. It had to be a shock, especially given that Storm probably thought she was off the hook.
"I think the better question is what are you doing here," he returned, eyes trailing over her for a moment before returning to her face. Memphis found it interesting that she hadn't changed out of the dress he'd picked, even though she had clearly decided not to come. Even more interesting was the fact that she'd put it on at all. Standing up straighter, his smirk widened. "I figured you might have lost track of time, so I tossed out the dinner I slaved over and brought some take out instead. Didn't want you to miss out completely, after all."
Letting his eyes trail over her again, he smiled. Storm was beautiful no matter how she dressed, but he liked how the outfit he'd chosen made her appear...soft. Vulnerable. "You look gorgeous in that. Just like I imagined," he added, stepping forward in the hope that she would move back to let him in.
