Everleigh wasn't entirely sure what was wrong with her. She had been feelings anxious and snippish for the last week. She had been moody and quiet, retreating more into herself then usual. And she truly didn't know what was wrong with her. She had a feeling there was more going on with her sister and Cullen, but again, she didn't know how she even felt about that. She had been the one who had stolen him from her sister and had in essence fucked up all their lives. But as much as she might regret how things were, she could never regret having Harmony, even if she sometimes felt like she wasn't the best mother. She tried, but Ever often felt like it wasn't enough. Most of the time Harmony was with Cullen in his apartment he shared with Pierce and his own baby, and that didn't help with Ever's feelings of inadequacies. She wanted to be her mother, she wanted a family and she just wanted to be happy. It just felt like that wasn't something that was in the cards.
She sat out on the beach, dressed in a sundress, with a light sweater beside her on the sand. As was typical, Ever wasn't sure if she wanted to be alone or have company, but she was too stubborn to call anyone and ask for anything. She stared out at the slight waves and the beautiful magical lights that occurred on the horizon. When the sun would set, it would alight the horizon and those lights and it was breathtaking. A slight warm breeze tossed her soft blonde hair around her head, but the shifter didn't move, lost in her thoughts. At the moment she was thinking about her sister and Cullen. She was sure something more was there, as it had probably always been. She knew it was on her sister's end, but she didn't know anything about Cullen's feelings. She had loved him, truly she had, but she didn't delude herself that he had felt the same. It still wasn't an excuse to do what she had done to her sister. And if they decided to be together, even though Ever and Cullen were done and would never be a couple, something still niggled her about her sister and the father of her baby. If she were being honest with herself, something she had been trying to be better about, she might admit that she was just afraid of being alone.
It was all well and good for Cullen to knock her up, he didn't have to deal with being called a whore and slut behind his back. His social life hadn't changed quite as much as hers had to. She had lost friends, disappointed her parents, and had lost her social status. And it was silly to think that meant anything, but to Ever, it had. She had enjoyed being popular and social, wanted by boys, even if most of them she wouldn't have ever given the time of day to. Now she was viewed as easy, judged as something she wasn't. Cullen had been the only guy she had ever slept with. And only Cordy knew that. She hadn't even told her sister's that.
Sighing softly, she dropped her eyes and reached for the bottle of wine she had snuck in her large purse down to the beach. It had already been opened days ago, when she had gotten back to school. Popping the cork out again, she was alone, so she had no qualms about raising the bottle to her lips and taking a sip. All Ever wanted was to have someone tell her it was going to be alright, that they had her back, and cuddle her when she got like this. But she had built up her walls after Harmony, pretending she didn't need anyone else, because she had this.
