Having Nyx there now made her feel better, even if it took every ounce of self-control she possessed not to place a bag or some other ridiculous means of cover over her face. Lia knew he would understand her desire to keep this kind of thing from anyone, but there was another part of her that felt so comfortable with him now that it didn't bother her as much. Their relationship was an interesting arrangement to be sure, but it was what had suited them both...at first. The kind of exclusivity that came with actually dating wasn't something the young siren was accustomed to, nor did she have a desire for it at the time. Now, she was afraid to admit she felt differently. Unlike Nyx, she was fully capable of jealousy and possessiveness, which she knew full well was hypocritical when one considered she wasn't practicing what she preached. That didn't matter, though. Lia was not always the most logical of women, and she certainly didn't spend a lot of time focusing on emotions. At least she hadn't before Nyx.
Things were different now, but she didn't know how to tell him that. Or even if she should, considering Lia completely thought he had been with another girl before coming to the hospital. The thought made her angry and hurt all at once, but she was too tired to fixate on the anger. Right now, she was just glad he was there, even if she wasn't sure what to say. "I'm glad you came," she said softly, but didn't get a chance to say anymore before Nyx was speaking again. Her eyes flicked down to the paper he pulled out of his jacket, eyebrow raising curiously as her eyes returned to his.
Lia felt like they were sucked into a tunnel as his next words left his mouth, and her heart immediately skipped a beat at the mention of her attackers; fear and flashes of memory coursing through her before she managed to clamp down on the feelings before she lost it. Her eyes lowered again, this time taking in the grisly image that was plastered across the front page. It wasn't graphic or gory exactly, but it definitely showed what the leader's fate had been. Swallowing, Lia was torn between the fear and a feeling of satisfaction that she wasn't sure she should be ashamed of or not.
Raising her eyes again, she focused on Nyx instead of the swirling feelings causing her still more confusion. "Good riddance." It was simple, spoken softly, but the conviction behind her words betrayed those vengeful thoughts Lia was still unsure were right to feel.
