Brendin had enjoyed hearing her hum; Lina so rarely sounded unhappy. He was waiting with baited breathe as she took her egg from him and when she announced that it was beautiful, he beamed; his smile wide and obviously happy. Then she was giving him his and he cupped it gently in his hands as he took it. He held it aloft and examined it, his eyes tracing the waves of the lines and the little snowflake-like decorations. And Catalina had used one of his favorite colors - blue. Leaning into her shoulder, he said, "It's perfect." Perfect just like her.
He set the egg down gently and collected two little holders for them both; protective covers so that their creations wouldn't break. "Do you think you have room for them both in your purse? If not, I can run them back to the car. I thought maybe we could go have dinner and walk the Pier until you're ready to go back."
