Adrian nodded as Lyri explained that he was a good person, but not to let the sadness get the better of him. That he had done the best he could. He smiled at her and raised her hand to his lips to place a light kiss on the back of it. "You are a beautiful person Lyriana," he said. "And I don't just mean on the outside." As she asked if he would stay with her so she could see her parents, he nodded. "Of course I will." He called out to a nurse to get her parents and she did. Adrian scooted his chair closer to the bed, and held her hand, intertwining her fingers with his as her parents came in, hoping the stronger contact with him would help her fight the fog that was sure to come.
And it did, but she fought through it, with his help, and she was able to have a visit with her parents, who couldn't express their gratitude enough to Adrian, who kept assuring them they had nothing to thank him for. The two left, hearts much lighter then when he had first arrived. Adrian caught her father smiling at him with a strange look on his face, as he leaned down to his wife and whispered a strange word. "вечно любить," (forever love, as there is no word for soulmate in Russian) he said with a knowing smile. Adrian had no idea what it meant and then they were thanking him again and her mother kissed him on the cheek.
"Take care of her, золотой рыцарь, (golden knight)" she whispered. He looked to Lyri as she left. "I have no idea what your mother just called me," he admitted. "Just so you know."
