WHO: Mika and Dex WHEN: Backdated to Friday night/Early Saturday WHERE: Mika's room. WHAT: Mika has a breakdown. Dex is consoling her. RATING: Low. OPEN: Not this time <3
Mika felt like she was stuck in a nightmare. The attack had come on so suddenly, nobody was prepared; nobody except their attackers, that is. The chaos that followed was instant and intense, and of course the young princess jumped right into the fray without a second thought. She wasn't going to sit back and let these people destroy her home or hurt people she loved. While not the biggest girl, her shifter enhancements made her a strong fighter when paired with her athleticism. Still, all the training and power in the world were no match for the variety of weapons these people had. She somehow found Niko beside her, and despite his efforts to make her go hide, she refused. It was this argument that would eventually be their undoing. Their distraction gave the vigilantes enough time to regroup, and she wasn't prepared for the knife and gunshot that came out of nowhere. Even now, as she sat in her room huddle under a blanket, Mika could still see that moment playing over and over in her mind. The terror she'd felt in knowing both weapons were aimed at her, followed immediately by the horror of Niko pushing her out of the way as hard as he could. She'd barely had time to scream in protest as the gun and knife found their way into her brother's flesh, and things got blurry after that.
The momentum from the hit and another body tackling the prince sent both tumbling out the window, and it took Mika several moments to realize the screaming was coming from her own mouth. She didn't even have enough sense to get up and run, which resulted in her being right in the middle of things when one of several bombs went off, and an easy target for another attacker when she came to several minutes later. She still wasn't sure how she'd gotten out alive, though the various injuries she was currently ignoring showed it had been a close call. No amount of nurses could keep her from Niko's side, and seeing him so still and lifeless was too much. She didn't know how long she'd stared, numb and unwilling to let herself cry, as her hand curled around his desperately. Eventually, Rinn managed to convince her to go to their room, which is where she'd made her post. She felt like the walls were closing in, and it was hard to breathe every time she thought about what happened; thought about Niko in the hospital on the verge of life and death. Mika wanted nothing more than to scream, cry, break things, anything to end this pain inside her. It wasn't fair. Her one saving grace was knowing Dex was far away and therefore safe, though she needed him more than she could express now. Seeing his promise that he would be back soon was a positive sign, but it didn't do enough to quiet her despair.
More time was spent sitting by Niko's side, until someone convinced her that she needed to rest; needed to sleep. Mika didn't care about the pain or the fatigue. She couldn't sleep because every time she closed her eyes she saw that horrible moment again and it nearly sucked the life right out of her. But she went back to the dorm anyway, figuring that would appease them for long enough so she could return unbothered for another span of time. Flopping onto her bed immediately, Mika buried her face in her pillow, trying hard to hold it together because she was sure if she broke now that she'd never be able to get the strength back.
